I am a North Carolina born photographer who has traveled the world courtesy of the United States Army. I have always been fascinated and excited about the beauty regimes of different cultures. After my tour of duty in the military, I decided to pursue my passion for photography. I love photographing women. My beauty and fashion portraits are bold, graceful, and classy. I infuse sleekness and sophistication, in a comfortable setting to reveal my client’s inner beauty.
My current project is a photo series entitled: I Am B.E.A.U.T.Y (Beautiful/Bold. Exceptional. Artistic. Unique. Talented. Youthful) is focusing on black women and how we define Beauty in our community. In the past, society has described white western women as the ideal Beauty, reinforced by the media. Today some of the ideals have changed due to more black women in the fashion industry. Although some changes have occurred, I want to explore how we define Beauty in our community, and if race, self-esteem, and skin color affects our definition.
My work is mainly a pamper session that includes a makeup artist and a stylist. I use natural and studio lighting to create different moods. I am known for my tightly cropped images and the use of hands in my portraits. My goal is to make every woman I photograph, feel extra unique and beautiful.
“Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face. It is about a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul.”~Anyonmous
